The Society of Limners’ 30th birthday dinner

The Society of Limners, which was founded by the late Elizabeth Davys Wood MBE to promote and encourage the painting of miniatures and engraving to a high standard, celebrated its 30th birthday on September 24. Members of the Society marked the occasion with a special birthday dinner at Horsley Park in Surrey, during their September painting weekend. Guests of honour were the Society’s Patron, Elizabeth Meek, MBE. HPRMS. PPSWA. FRSA. and her husband Anthony Lester, Hon. RMS. FRSA, the Society’s President, Michael Pierce, PSLM, celebrated international silhouette artist, and his wife, Jean.

Twenty-four members attended the dinner and enjoyed a three course meal with wine and a special anniversary cake. Linda Orams and Janet Howard, joint-chairmen of the Society for the past six years, who are retiring, were presented with gifts. Raising a toast to the future of the Society, Linda said it looked forward to many more successful years. The Society’s new chairman will be announced in November.
