The Society of Limners was founded in 1986 to promote and encourage the painting of miniatures and engraving to a high standard.
It is with great sadness that we must announce that the Society of Limners was closed down at the end of 2019. This was due to falling numbers in the aging membership and difficulty in finding enough members for the Council that ran the Society and the Annual Exhibitions.
We will leave this website up as a memory of the Society for the moment and would like to draw your attention to the other two Societies that are still fully operational.
The Hilliard Society of Miniaturists will happily welcome the Society of Limners members into it’s membership and will be very happy to welcome buyers of miniature art to it’s Annual Exhibition.
For more information go to The Hilliard Society of Miniaturists
The Royal Miniature Society would also be happy for artist members of the Society of Limners to apply to join them, and they will also be happy to extend a welcome to buyers of miniature art to their Annual Exhibition.
For more information go to Royal Society of Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers
The aim of the Society of Limners was to expand the miniature art world with yearly exhibitions, painting weekends, Facebook and this website.
We hope you still find our website both enjoyable and informative and that it will still inspire you to collect these beautiful, miniature works of art or take up the challenge of painting them.
